Letters: I keep thinking this just can’t be real

Here I am still in my PJs at my cozy little home on a bright Sunday morning. Ate a nice breakfast, watched a little TV, then walked into my bedroom and fell right back into bed.

I had just been thinking that this coronavirus pandemonium and what’s happening throughout the world should be only a bad dream or a made-for-TV, B-grade movie. This just can’t be real.

But it IS real! People are going crazy and acting bizarre.

The recent days have been like a great retail stock-up binge on steroids. I never imagined that I’d ever see such bedlam in our happy little Durango.

We all want this virus to give up and quit so things can get back to normal. It’s incredulous what’s been happening.

Maybe after I take a nap, I’ll wake up and everything will be miraculously back to normalcy.

Fat chance!

In the meantime, get a grip on yourselves. Stay at home as much as possible. Remember that cleanliness is next to godliness, keep washing your hands as if you were obsessive-compulsive, follow reasonable instructions we are given and maybe a little prayer might be in order.

Oh, lastly and most important of all, tell those closest to you that they are loved!

When things return back to normalcy, remember this: We’re all together in this thing together no matter what. It’s not about political party lines or our other petty differences. We are bigger than that nonsense.

Try to show the best of your humanity. Be kind to your neighbors. Peace be with you all.
