Exchange bird feeders for flower baskets

The Durango Botanical Society, in partnership with Bear Smart Durango and AJ’s Greenhouse, will host a Garden Party Celebration from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Durango Public Library Demonstration Garden, between the Durango Public Library and the Animas River Trail.

Bear Smart will exchange bird feeders for hanging flower baskets from AJ’s. The event will include tai chi and yoga demonstrations, free refreshments and free garden-tool sharpening. Summer blooming bulbs and plants will be offered for sale, with hourly bulb giveaways.

Mothers, restore yourselves with yoga

Mother’s Day Restorative Yoga Workshop with certified Iyengar instructor Martha Evers will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday in Room 32 on the third floor of the Smiley Building, 1309 East Third Ave.

The workshop will include restorative yoga poses to encourage deep inward relaxation, stimulate the immune system, reduce fatigue and are the antidote to stress. All levels are welcome from seasoned practitioners to beginners.

The cost is $30, which will support the La Plata Family Centers Coalition.

Help clean up the Pine River Cemetery

Pine River Cemetery will perform its annual spring cleanup week, beginning May 11.

All flowers and decorations will be picked up and disposed of. If people have items they would like to keep, they need to pick them up before then. It is asked that new flowers and decorations not be placed on grave locations until after the spring cleanup.

Documentary airings will benefit Nepal

Inhabit, located in the Riverside Professional Building at 1970 East Third Ave., will host two showings of the film, “Talking Story,” a documentary about ancient spiritual and healing traditions from around the world, including Nepal, by filmmaker/author, Marie-Rose Phan-Lê.

The showings will take place at 7 p.m. Friday and at 4 p.m. Saturday. All proceeds from the screenings will go the Karma and Jyamu Bhotia Foundation. Tickets are $11 at the door.
