Find purpose in your daily life

“Reincarnation, Angels and True Life Purpose in Your Daily Life” will be presented by Roger and Diana Ringo from 2 to 4 p.m. or from 7 to 9 p.m. April 7 in the Sunlight Room of the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Participants will discover how reincarnation affects relationships and career choices. Learn contemporary insights in the many ways angels are a part of life. The registration fee is $15.

Learn about prostate cancer, man to man

Dr. Jonathan Clark will address the Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Group at 6:30 p.m. April 7 at the Durango Public Library in the second floor meeting room, 1900 East Third Ave.

Clark graduated from Loma Linda University in 2008 and completed a four-year radiation oncology residency in 2013 from the same institution. Clark joined the Mercy Medical Radiation Oncology/Durango Cancer Center in August 2013. He will present and discuss the new radiation techniques for treating prostate cancer.

Take radical control, says Andre Melendez

Fort Lewis College will present J. Andre Melendez, professor of nanobioscience at State University of New York Polytechnic Institute, Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany, New York, who will be speaking on “Radical Control of Aging, Cancer and Immunity” from 5 to 6 p.m. April 7 in the FLC Student Union’s Vallecito Room.

This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.

Classes to cover computers in Ignacio

Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave., will offer these computer classes:

Digital photo editing with free software will take place at 1 p.m. April 7. Participants will learn about some of the free and open-source alternatives and the basics of how they work.

Google Drive and Cloud Computing will take place at 1 p.m. April 14. This course will focus on Google’s free cloud-based storage service. The class also will touch on other cloud storage and computing services. No previous computer knowledge is required.

Social Media in 2015 will take place at 1 p.m. April 21. This course will be an overview of social media in 2015. People will learn how to connect with old friends, promote a business online and market oneself using social-media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and more.

Open Technology Session will take place at 1 p.m. April 28. This open session will try to answer your questions.

Durango library offers civic-education series

Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., will continue its civic-education series titled “What Do We Do?” with a presentation by the Police Department from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. April 7.

Department staff will present “What your police department is doing for you: Community partnerships and the challenge with current events across the nation.” Attendees are welcome to bring a bag lunch.

Florida Grange gives chicken-raising tips

The Florida Grange will offer a free workshop on raising chickens at 1 p.m. April 11 at the grange hall, 656 Colorado Highway 172.

The class is aimed at beginners and will offer information to get people started on raising a backyard chicken flock.

Hisatsinom Chapter presents Paleoindians

The Hisatsinom Chapter of the Colorado Archaeology Society will present Bridget Ambler at 7 p.m. April 7 at the Methodist Church, 515 Park St., Cortez, to discuss “The Lindenmeier Site: Folsom Investigations on Colorado’s Front Range.”

Ambler will discuss archaeological history and collections research on the Lindenmeier site, one of the most widely-known Folsom Paleoindian sites in North America.

Families welcome to learn about midwives

Meet the Doulas and Midwives Night will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. April 15 at Osadha Natural Health, 21055 Colorado Highway 140 in Hesperus, located directly across from mile marker 21.

This is an opportunity for expectant families, families wanting to be expecting, as well as practitioners who work with pregnancy, postpartum and preconception care. Topics discussed will cover everything from what doulas and midwives do, to fertility, pregnancy and postpartum care. Light snacks will be provided.

Seniors can learn about technology

The Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave., will offer these computer workshops conducted by Jon Cordalis, The Computer Tutor from 9 a.m. to noon:

Technology 101: Overview of Current Technology will take place April 7. Participants will learn about the new technologies popular in today’s world. The class will look at tablet and smartphone technology, wireless Internet basics, streaming video content, Internet competency, uses of digital photos, Skype/Facebook and more.

Buying and Selling Safely Online will take place April 9. Participants will learn how to sell items and buy items using the most popular sites on the Internet. The class will cover understanding how the sites work and how to create an appealing ad. The class also will explore ways to make sure people are doing this safely.

Classes are $15 each, and preregistration and prepayment are required. To register, call 382-6428.
