Dig your hands in dirt at Native Roots

Native Roots Garden Center will host a free soil and soil-amendments class at noon Saturday at 26266 U.S. Highway 160.

Participants will learn about local soils, soil science and soil amendments for gardening and turf.

Katja Walton to Skype Durango Rotary Club

Katja Walton, a senior at Durango High School and an outbound Rotary Exchange student currently in Taipei, Taiwan, will speak to the Daybreak Rotary Club of Durango via Skype at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Walton will present an update on her experiences in Taiwan. After her return to the U.S. this summer, Walton plans to pursue her education in International Affairs at CU-Boulder. The public is welcome.

Community directors to connect Thursday

A board of directors meeting for Community Connections Inc., will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday in the Lupine Conference Room at 281 Sawyer Drive, Suite 200.

Knights of Columbus to host a fish fry

The Knights of Columbus will host a Fish Fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 254 East Fifth Ave.
