Durango announces holiday schedule

This is the holiday schedule for the city of Durango:

City administrative offices will be closed Dec. 24-25, including offices at City Hall, River City Hall, police station and substation, Durango Transit Center, Parks & Recreation administrative offices and Greenmount Cemetery.

Durango-La Plata County Airport administrative offices will be closed Dec. 24-25.

The Durango Transit Evening Bus will discontinue service during the Fort Lewis College winter break beginning Monday and will resume Jan. 12.

Transit will run a normal schedule Dec. 24. The parking window will be closed. Parking will be free downtown.

No Transit services will be operating Dec. 25. The Transit Center and parking window will be closed. Parking will be free downtown.

Transit will have limited service Dec. 26. Two citywide buses will run from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the trolley will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. No service will be available to Mercy Regional Medical Center, and there will be no route deviations. One Opportunity bus will run.

Durango Public Library will be closed Dec. 24-25. All library branches will be closed in conjunction with the Durango School District 9-R school break from Monday through Jan. 2.

Durango Community Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 24 but will be closed Dec. 25 and will reopen for regular hours Dec. 26.

Chapman Hill Ice Rink will be open for public skate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 24 and will be closed Dec. 25. The rink will reopen regular hours Dec. 26.

Chapman Ski Hill will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 24. The ski hill will be closed Dec. 25.

The Mason Center will be closed for classes and rentals from Monday to Jan. 4. Classes will resume Jan. 5. Preschool Open Gym (ages 1-5) will be available Monday and Tuesday only. Friday preschool open gyms will be closed.

Trash and recycling services will operate normally Dec. 24. There will be no trash/recycle services Dec. 25. Thursday commercial trash and recycling will be picked up Dec. 24. Thursday residential trash and recycling will be picked up Dec. 26. The Durango Recycle Center will be closed Dec. 24-25 and will reopen Dec. 26.

Road Runner announces closures

The Road Runner Transit buses will not be running Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan. 1 and 2.

Regular service will resume Dec. 29, 30, 31 and Jan. 5. Dial-A-Ride will be running in the Ignacio area from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

Instrument Discovery Day to be held

Music in the Mountains, in partnership with Katzin Music and Fort Lewis College, will offer Instrument Discovery Day on Jan. 24 at FLC.

This free event gives elementary students a chance to try out various brass, string, woodwind and percussion instruments. Three different sessions will be offered throughout the day. The deadline to register is Jan. 16.
