Local Club Championships dot horizon

It was a welcome sight to see the sprinklers back on at our lower elevation area courses this week after the restrictions were lifted on the river.

The recent event, which shut down the river, shows us just how vulnerable and delicate our ecosystem is to so many who depend on this precious resource.

This was a modern-day wake up call to rectify, resolve and reclaim.

Hillcrest Golf Club

The championship focus continues Aug. 22-23 for the Ska Brewing-Hillcrest Club Championships for both the men and women.

This 36-hole individual stroke play has an added prize purse of $1,250, and a dinner is included for each entrant on Saturday evening in the clubhouse.

The entry fee is $60 per person, and tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. both days.

After this weekend, tournament play takes a breather and settles into a pre-fallish mode.

Activities ramp up in a couple of weeks when the calendar moves into September, which gives us plenty of time to prep you for those upcoming events.

A Best Ball, Regional Stroke Play and a Memorial 4-Club event will dot the landscape of our area fairways.
