Missing Durango woman was picked up by driver

Woodruff

A 30-year-old Durango woman missing since March 30 was picked up by a motorist while walking on U.S. Highway 160 west of Durango, police said Tuesday.

Chelsea Ruby Woodruff told a man who picked her up that she was trying to get to Dolores to meet someone, said Durango Police Detective Joe Farmer.

She was picked up about 5:30 p.m. March 30, the same day she was reported missing, Farmer said.

The driver contacted police to say he had given her a ride to Hesperus but that she planned to go to Dolores to meet the person. Police do not know who she was planning to meet.

Before the most recent sighting, Woodruff last was seen at Albertsons supermarket in Durango, where she works. She was wearing blue jeans and carrying a backpack.

Her cellphone has been turned off, and no one has been able to locate it, according to a news release issued earlier this week by the Durango Police Department.

Police said no foul play is suspected, but there is concern for her welfare.

Woodruff is an at-risk adult because of a medical condition, according to the release. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, is 5 feet 1 inch and weighs 135 pounds.

Anyone with information should call Farmer at 375-4732, central dispatch at 385-2900 or Crime Stoppers at 247-1112.
