Chelsea Ruby Woodruff found in good health

The Durango woman who went missing March 30 was found Thursday alive and well in Dolores, Durango police Lt. Ray Shupe said Friday.

She was given a ride to Hesperus by a driver who picked her up as she walked along U.S. Highway 160 west of Durango shortly after she left her job at Albertsons market March 30.

Police quickly put out a bulletin saying Chelsea Ruby Woodruff, 30, was an at-risk adult because of a health problem.

Investigators received multiple tips from the public that placed her in the Dolores area, Shupe said. Technological forensics – such as data from cellphones, videos, computers and websites – confirmed her presence there.

Detectives from the Durango Police Department and the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office searched several residences in Dolores before finding Woodruff in a house near the Dolores secondary school.

“She was in good health and was unharmed,” Shupe said in a statement. “She was not being held against her will.”

Woodruff was taken into protective custody and returned to Durango where she received care for her health problem, Shupe said. She was released to her mother.
