Newsroom monitors step toward takeover

The Federal Communications Commission’s plan to put government monitors into the nation’s newsrooms is only the latest example to come to light of the Obama regime’s creeping encroachments on the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution. Each new revelation commands the public’s attention for a day and tends to distract us from seeing the whole pattern. Every new appointment, every new program, every new regulation, every new administrative action, and every new executive order represents one more calculated step in furtherance of the Obama agenda to transform America into a nation in which the lives of its citizens must conform to the directives of a central authority.

We should remember these words of Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas: “As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there’s a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of a change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of darkness.”
