Photos: Demon Hot Sauce heats up Durango High School

Matt Poling, left, Food & Nutrition Services director at Durango School District 9-R; Izzy Mora, 17, a Durango High School business class student; and Kricket Lewis, career and technical education teacher at DHS; hold bottles of Demon Hot Sauce on Tuesday at the school. The hot sauce recipe was created by Durango School District 9-R Food & Nutrition Services. It is being used as a hands-on opportunity for about 60 career and technical education students to learn how to develop, market and sell a product. The sweet and tangy sauce uses local produce when possible and is produced and bottled locally through a partnership with Durango Artisan Foods. The product will soon be available at local businesses. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald)
