Pine River Library announces summer reading “quest”

Pine River Library invites the community to join an enchanting summer reading quest this July.

The theme is “Imagine Your Story” and takes inspiration from favorite tales, legends, myths and fantasy worlds, challenging everyone to read, laugh, play, learn and spread love (and not germs) this summer.

The quest will be made up of challenges ranging from reading books to visiting local outdoor adventure spots. “Defend the helpless” by performing an act of kindness or “tame a dragon” by playing with pets. Learn from Hansel and Gretel’s mistake by eating a healthy meal or take a bite of Snow White’s apple and try a new food.

Take-and-make craft and activity kits that help complete certain challenges will also be available by request, including card making, catapult building, crown decorating, shield making and more.

When participants return their packets to the library the first week in August, they will receive one prize drawing entry per challenge completed. Prizes include gift certificates to local businesses and book bundles.

There will also be a series of weekly virtual programs that will include stories, songs, crafts and STEAM activities for different age groups ranging from babies to age 12, with full details and scheduling included in the packet.

To join, pick up a paper copy of the Summer Quest Packet at the library from noon to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday or 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday starting the week of June 22.

Community members can also call 884-2222, ext. 1, or email pod@prlibrary.org to request a paper copy via mail or a digital copy to print at home, or download a copy of the packet at www.prlibrary.org/summer-quest-2020.
