The fires at Mountain Vista Mobile Home Park were limited to two mobile homes due to the prompt attention by local resident, Travis Bashaw. Travis was very attentive to call 911, tried to put out the fire that started outside one of the mobile homes and then acted at removing one of the tenants from her home prior to harm. Thanks to Travis for his efforts.
The Durango Fire Protection District was also very quick to act and save the fire from sweeping through the entire mobile home park, in which 20 other homes are occupied. Karola Hanks and her entire department were professional as well as compassionate in their control of the situation.
