In a letter to the editor (Herald, Dec. 18), Michael Black referred to a
Beneath his letter, an editor’s note stated: “The letter writer is incorrect. Twice monthly the Herald’s Editorial Advisory Board participates in discussions of community issues and interests. Board members do not write the editorials that appear in The Durango Herald.”
That the editor’s note was not responsive to Black’s question – whether the industry representative “recused herself from all discussion and writing of the editorial.”
That leaves readers to wonder how much influence is exerted on Herald editorials by members of the its editorial advisory board who represent special interests.
