Rec center can help keep joints healthy

The “Health and Fitness” section is one of my favorites to read every week in The Durango Herald. Dr. Matthew Clark’s column on arthritis (Herald, Nov. 4) was excellent.

Clark mentioned that physical activity and exercise are great to keep the joints mobile. One of the best activities for arthritis is water aerobics or swimming. It is low impact and offers full range of motion for all the joints. I teach aquacize at the Durango Community Recreation Center and it has a full array of water classes from high intensity water aerobics to slower “yo-aquatics”.

We are fortunate to have such a nice, year-round swimming pool in Durango. Call the rec center to get a complete schedule of water classes and keep your joints moving smoothly.
