Registration is now open for the Vallecito Lake Heavy Half Marathon on May 13. The 13.7 mile road and gravel course takes runners completely around Vallecito Reservoir with a special section that runs across the Vallecito Dam.

New this year, the Durango Running Club will now organize the race.

The Vallecito Lake Heavy Half is a 100% volunteer-led effort. The race benefits the Vallecito Community Center, with money going toward its local scholarship program.

All runners will receive a finisher’s glass, a long-sleeve T-shirt and a post-race lunch. The post-race party is sponsored by the Rocky Mountain General Store and Meats.

The cost is $75, and $80 after May 1. Durango Running Club members can receive a 10% discount on registration.
