Repeating Big Lie fails to make it true

We appreciate the intelligent letter from David Black (Herald, Jan. 21). The “Big Lie” from the Big Loser, Trump, needs to dissolve from our collective consciousness.

The new universe of “lies as facts” is epidemic among the 30% of the GOP’s gullible believers. Decades of research by award-winning psychologist Elizabeth Loftus has shown conclusively how simply repeating a lie influences the beliefs of young children to conclude the lie is actually true. The Trump “true believers” act like children, swallowing anything and blindly denying reality.

The Jan. 21 edition also shows Rep. Boebert, a disgrace to the state, wearing a pathetic, crude outfit – revealing just how ugly her brand of “politics” is. Most Democrats and a few sensible Republicans can change the toxic trends in the country. We need to vote for real, honest policies in 2022. We can replace the lies and “alternative facts” with meaningful policy. Replacing Boebert will be a good first step.
