San Juan Basin Public Health participates in health assistance program

San Juan Basin Public Health has been selected to participate in the Strong Systems, Stronger Communities Technical Assistance Project, an initiative by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Association of County and City Health Officials.

The initiative supports local public health agencies in completing public health performance improvement projects through tailored in-person and virtual training and peer networking.

Participants will work to address social determinants of health and health equity by accelerating progress of their public health improvement plans. San Juan Basin Public Health wants improve access to healthy foods for residents of Southwest Colorado.

Two representatives from the health department will attend a training workshop from March 3 to March 4, 2020, in Washington, D.C., where they will network with other selected communities and build skills in public health performance improvement and community engagement.
