San Juan Basin Public Health announced the launch of its community health assessment, during National Public Health Week, April 3-9.
As a result of the 2008 Colorado Public Health Act, the department is required to collect health data and input from community members and stakeholders and create a community health assessment for Archuleta and La Plata counties. After the completion of its first assessment in 2012, SJBPH created a five-year public health improvement plan, approved by the Board of Health in early 2013.
The theme for this year’s National Public Health Week is “Healthiest Nation 2030.” The health department will work toward that goal as it begins the five-year assessment.
The assessment will include opportunities for local community members to provide feedback on public health issues and policy to be published at www.sjbpublichealth.org/apc.
