A property tax exemption is available for tax year 2021, affecting taxes payable in 2022 for qualifying seniors and surviving spouses of those who previously qualified.
Seniors must be 65 as of Jan. 1 and have owned and resided on the property as their primary residence as of Dec. 31, 2010.
Fifty percent of the first $200,000 of actual value of their primary residence is exempt. The state will fund the exemption tax year 2021.
Once approved, the exemption remains on the homeowner’s account. Applicants should not reapply.
