September signals final push for tournament play

It is September, and we are rounding the final turn toward the finish line on a successful 2016 tournament season.

There are still a good number of events waiting for your participation.

Hillcrest Golf Club

This weekend marks the 42nd Annual First National Bank/ 1-2-3-4 Person Best Ball. The event is a testament to long standing support of our community by the one-and-only sponsor. There is $500 in added prize purse and an entry fee of $35 per player. Ninety-percent handicaps will be used for scoring. Coffee and doughnuts will be served at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 3rd, followed by the drawing for each four-person team at 8 a.m. Action will commence with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Scoring will be net only. Check with the Hillcrest Golf Club pro shop to see if there are still spots available. This event is also one of the qualifiers for the season-ending Todd Sieger Shootout on Oct. 1.

Mark down Sept. 10-11 on your events calendar, as the Fiesta Mexicana Fall Classic-2 Person Best Ball will be played on the Hillcrest Golf Club layout. There is $500 in added prize purse and an entry fee of $50 per person. You can choose your own partner provided your handicap differential is no greater than eight strokes between partners. Ninety-percent handicaps will be used with flights. Tee times will begin at 9 a.m. both days, and scoring will be both gross and net.

Dalton Ranch Golf Club

There are two more Couples Tournaments left on the 2016 Dalton Ranch Golf Club season, and the next one is set for Sept. 4. Give the DRGC pro shop a call at 247-8774 to get signed up for this event.

Before I delve into scoring from the previous week, I want to issue an apology to the First Flight of the Hillcrest Women’s Club Championship. In my haste to get all the results in, I missed listing this flight in my results. So, First Flight low gross went to Rita Davis with a score of 185, while Janet Monell came in second gross with a 195. Low net went to Kitsy Williams with a 133, while Macky Headrick was second net with a 141.
