Fort Lewis College’s men’s soccer team has been on a roll lately, and the Skyhawks added another win, their third consecutive, with a 2-1 victory against Regis University Friday afternoon in Denver.
The Skyhawks (6-3-4, 6-1-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) fell behind early after a Regis goal from Luca Kother in the seventh minute.
The lead didn’t last long for Regis (6-5-0, 4-5-0 RMAC). Four minutes after the Kother goal, FLC’s Raul Pescador scored on a free kick from 25 yards out in the 11th minute.
The Skyhawks took the lead in the 30th minute when Coleman Kane found Churchill Onumonu for his third goal of the season.
Regis outshot FLC 14-9, but only put four of those shots on goal.
FLC will play Colorado Mines (10-3-0, 8-1-0 RMAC) at noon on Sunday in Golden. Mines, ranked 15th in the nation, currently sits atop the RMAC standings with 24 points.
FLC is third with 20 points, one point back of Colorado Mesa, which is ranked 20th. FLC is unranked.
The Fort Lewis College women’s soccer team picked up its third win in a row with a 3-1 victory against Colorado Mesa University Friday afternoon at Dirks Field.
Jackie Strom gave the Skyhawks (4-6-1, 4-4-0 RMAC) an early lead with a goal in the fifth minute. It was her first goal of the season.
Ally Holloway extended the FLC lead with a goal in the 47th minute, putting her shot from 30 yards out into the upper-right corner of the goal. It was her first goal of the season as well.
Mesa (6-7-0, 3-5-0 RMAC) cut the deficit in half in the 80th minute with a goal from Alexis Allard.
FLC’s Alicia Sanchez secured the victory with a goal in the 87th minute, her third goal this year.
FLC will host Westminster (5-7-0, 2-5-0 RMAC) at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dirks Field.
Fort Lewis College’s volleyball team (8-9, 3-6 RMAC) couldn’t find a way past Chadron State (7-10, 4-5 RMAC) and fell to the Eagles 25-18, 25-21, 25-23 Friday night at FLC.
Bailey Longacre and Maddie LeBlanc led the Skyhawks’ attack with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
LeBlanc also delivered four aces for FLC.
Chadron State’s Gaby Varela led all players with 15 kills.
FLC will be back on the court Saturday, hosting RMAC-leading Regis (17-2, 9-0 RMAC) at 5 p.m.
