Skyhawks’ women’s cross country takes fifth at NCAA South Central Regional

The Fort Lewis College women’s cross country team finished fifth at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional on Saturday at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.

Rebecca Bramley and Emily Bryant finished less than a second apart to lead the way for the Skyhawks. Bramley’s time of 22 minutes, 44.5 seconds was good for 34th place and Bryant’s 22:45.1 placed her 35th.

Victoria Quintana (22:49) finished 41st; Davette Susan (22:50) was 48th; Kristen Ascencio (23:08) crossed the line 57th; Erin Renner (23:32) placed 75th; Madison Obernesser (24:14) came in 110th.

FLC’s team total of 205 was bettered by Dallas Baptist (137), Colorado Mines (123), Western State (56) and South Central Region champion Adams State (27).

Dallas Baptist’s Kelsey Bruce won the race with a time of 20:36. Georgia Porter, from Western State, finished second in 20:48.8. Adams State’s Noel Prandoni (21:00), Jenna Thurman (21:03.9), Grace Tinkey (21:20.8) and Maura O’Brien (21:24.3) took the next four spots as the Grizzlies dominated the team standings.
