LAWRENCE, Kan. – Josh Jackson had 23 points and 10 rebounds, then helped third-ranked Kansas prevent No. 2 Baylor from getting off a potential tying shot in the closing seconds of the Jayhawks’ 73-68 victory Wednesday night.

Frank Mason III added 19 points, including two free throws to seal the win, and Devonte Graham scored 13 as the Jayhawks (20-2, 8-1) pulled a game ahead of the Bears (20-2, 7-2) in the Big 12 race.

The game was tied 64-all with 2:23 left when Jackson went baseline for a dunk. After Mason made a couple of foul shots moments later, the teams began trading baskets down the stretch.

Organizers reveal 575-mile Tour of California route

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – This year’s Tour of California will cover 575 miles from Sacramento to Pasadena, while the women’s race that precedes it in May will be the only UCI WorldTour race in the U.S. this year.

Organizers revealed the route Tuesday, along with announcing that Jens Voigt, Freddie Rodriguez and three-time Olympic time trial champion Kristin Armstrong will serve as ambassadors.

After the opening circuit stage in Sacramento on May 14, the men’s race takes riders from Modesto to San Jose, Pismo Beach to Morro Bay, Santa Barbara to Santa Clarita and up the iconic climb of Mt. Baldy. There is also a time trial at Big Bear Lake before the final stage to Pasadena.

The women’s race, which begins May 11 in South Lake Tahoe, became the only U.S. race on this year’s WorldTour calendar when the Philly Cycling Classic was canceled last month.

Vonn and Shiffrin stars of U.S. worlds roster

Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin highlight the U.S. Ski Team roster for the world championships starting next week in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Julia Mancuso also will compete as she steadily regains her form following hip surgery. Missing from the American team will be Ted Ligety (back) and Steven Nyman (knee). Bode Miller will appear in St. Moritz, but as an announcer for NBC, not as a competitor.

Vonn recently returned to racing after nearly a year out with a knee injury and then a broken arm. The four-time overall World Cup champion is a six-time medal winner at worlds.

Shiffrin has captured two straight slalom titles at world championships, including two years ago in Beaver Creek, Colorado. She currently leads the World Cup standings in a close race with Lara Gut of Switzerland.
