As a parent of two young boys in Durango public schools, I worry about the overall state of public education in Durango and beyond. I worry about kids having to play catch-up after missing valuable classroom time during the pandemic. I worry about teacher turnover and retention, and I know that educators are underpaid and struggling to keep up with rapidly rising housing costs and inflation.
Despite these worries, I am always inspired and awed by the dedication of our teachers, administrators and school board members who work tirelessly to serve local youths and our community. That’s why I was appalled to read that Lauren Boebert is attacking Durango schools with outlandish lies about kitty litter.
Boebert would rather attack our schools than work on solutions to improve educational opportunities for our children. We can and must do better. I urge all Durangoans to stand up for decency, civility and public education by voting Adam Frisch for Congress.
