State tennis postponed to Friday

Inclement weather in forecast causes shift

Due to the inclement weather and heavy rain in the forecast across Colorado, the Colorado High School Activities Association has postponed the first day of the Girls Tennis Individual State Championships. The championships were scheduled to begin Thursday.

With Thursday's play being rained out, each of the tournaments will begin at multiple sites on Friday and conclude at one of three sites on Saturday.

The 4A tournament will be played at Pueblo City Park and Pueblo South High School on Friday. All play will take conclude at Pueblo City Park on Saturday.

Durango High School qualified for state at six positions with top-two regional finishes. Ellie Davenport and Adwyn Chowen qualified at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, while Juliet DiGiacomo/Ellie McLean, Lola Bradshaw/Sydney Pritchard and Rachel Ager/Avery Edgar all qualified in No. 1, 2 and 3 doubles.

The 5A championships will be spread out between Denver City Park, Denver South High School and Denver Tennis Park on Friday, before concluding at Denver City Park on Saturday.

The 3A championships will take place at Memorial Park and Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs on Friday. The full tournament will return to Memorial Park on Saturday for the final day of play.
