State worker hit, police seek driver

The Colorado State Patrol is asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a pickup that struck a state worker early Monday between Bayfield and Pagosa Springs.

The victim was described as a 55-year-old Colorado Department of Transportation employee. The man was walking outside of his truck removing rocks from the road when a light-colored westbound pickup knocked him to the ground, according to a news release sent Tuesday by the State Patrol.

The pickup left the scene without stopping.

The CDOT employee suffered minor injuries.

The incident occurred about 3 a.m. on the east side of Yellowjacket Pass, near milepost 116.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Colorado State Patrol office in Durango at (970) 385-1675.
