Talk about town: Chamber of Commerce announces ‘Durango Rocks’ finalists

The Durango Chamber of Commerce named Steve Short the 2017 Citizen of the Year during the “Durango Rocks” awards ceremony at the Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall.

The Durango Chamber of Commerce will present its annual “Durango Rocks” awards Jan. 18 at the Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall.

Awards include Citizen of the Year, Leadership La Plata “Barbara Conrad” Award, Young Professional of the Year Award, Diplomat of the Year Award and the Morley Ballantine Award.

There are three finalists in each of the following categories:

Nonprofit of the Year: Know Your Dough, Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center and The Garden Project of Southwest Colorado.

Business of the Year: Bank of Colorado, Durango Motor Co. and Rochester Hotel.

Small Business of the Year: Four Corners Broadcasting, Hair Fusion and Squeegee Monkey.

“Bill Mashaw” Volunteer of the Year Award: Pat Barrett, Trish Pegram and Joe Perino.

Spirit of Durango Award: El Moro Spirits & Tavern, Pura Vida Health Care and Redmond Classic Tours.

Ed Morlan” Entrepreneur of the Year Award: Tracie Holcomb of CrossFit Catacombs, Jasper Welch of DurangoSpace and Kelly MacNiven of Kelly Miranda Photography.
