Thank the Democrats

I would like to remind some of my Republican friends of some facts that they may have forgotten. For those people who receive Social Security benefits in their bank account every month without fail, they can thank Democrats who passed the Social Security Act in 1935 over severe Republican opposition. The Republicans used the same old tired epithets back then of “socialism and communism” that you still hear today. Would today’s crop of Republicans pass that bill? Would Lauren Boebert vote for it? I doubt it.

For those Republicans over 65 who get their health care insurance from Medicare and Medicaid, they can thank Democrats who passed that legislation in 1965 over Republican resistance. Ronald Reagan at the time called Medicare the biggest threat to democracy. That was during the Cold War.

For those Republicans younger than 65 who get their health insurance through the ACA (Obamacare), you can thank Democrats who passed that bill in 2010 with no Republican votes in either the House or the Senate.

I would like all voters to remember these things when they vote.
