Thank you for ad, Richard Ballantine
A big thank you to Durango Herald proprietor Richard Ballantine for publishing, to my understanding, the first barter ad in the notices section of The Durango Herald.
A Christmas party needed homemade gravy that was not made from a fried or smoked turkey. I offered to trade Chef Dax of the DoubleTree Hotel some homemade pico de gallo and a loaf of sourdough bread from Jean-Pierre Bakery for 3 liters of outstanding gravy. I couldn’t have made better gravy for a party of 20. We peeled a large bag of russet potatoes on my sunny deck – 55 degrees wearing a long-sleeve shirt on Dec. 25 – and mashed them with a pound of butter and lots of love.
I hope more bartering happens with the help of your newspaper.
