Botanical Society thanks Durango Herald staff

We at Durango Botanical Society requested that a public service announcement be placed in The Durango Herald on Monday, April 30 about a fire mitigation seminar on May 2 and the announcement appeared in the paper as requested on Monday, April 30.

I just wanted to let people know how much we appreciate the support of our organization.

We had a great turnout and a successful seminar, so thank you for the assistance in getting the information to the public.

Farmers Market grateful for sponsors

Durango Farmers Market is happy to announce its 2018 community sponsors that have offered support to the local venue of fresh, healthy food.

First National Bank of Durango donated the summer venue for the market and these businesses and organizations contributed financially: Renewal by Andersen, Fort Lewis College, The Wells Group, Handcrafted House, Tailwind Nutrition, Environmental Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning, Flatrock Solar and Southwest Farm Fresh Cooperative.

These community sponsorships allow the market to improve and expand its services and open the restrooms in Durango Transit Center to customers and vendors every Saturday throughout the market’s summer season.

We extend many thanks to sponsors and the city of Durango.

The sponsor organizations offer products and services to the community that support the values of the farmers market, which promote local, sustainable and healthy lifestyles. Community sponsors will attend the market during the summer to provide information about products and services.

Please thank them for the support and learn about what they offer in the community.

Sponsors also allow the farmers market to: maintain and enhance its infrastructure through reimbursing the city of Durango for use of the Transit Center restrooms; maintain a public address system for market musicians; provide a venue and keep it clean and well-managed; provide and maintain equipment, benches and other seating; Provide community food education programs; support local musicians who provide entertainment at the market; and support the longterm growth and success of the market each summer.
