Know Your Dough, a nonprofit that provides financial literacy programs for youths and young adults, would like to thank Durango Montessori, Erin Williamson and Cait Callahan for hosting the recent “Feed the Pig” and “Never Too Young” programs. We would also like to thank volunteers for serving their classes: Lauren Ziesel, Laura Shelton, Stephanie Krueger and Paige Hickman. The show of community support is encouraging and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve local youths.

To the community, the leadership team at Pine River Shares publicly thanks everyone for their loving and unselfish giving at the recent “Food, Friends and Funds” drive and throughout the past year. It is a blessing to realize that people who need assistance can receive it because of the generous people in Pine River Valley and La Plata County communities.

On behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Durango, I want to express our sincere thanks for the contributions during a very successful year. In 2017, the club raised $7,000 at the annual Bill Mashaw golf tournament, $14,000 at the annual Kiwanis Pancake Day and $6,000 from silent auctions. The money goes back into the community to enrich the lives of local children.
Special thanks to the contributors of this year’s Pancake Day: CJ’s Diner, DoubleTree Hotel, Durango Roasters, Durango Natural Foods, Fort Lewis College softball team, Honeyville, Durango Chamber of Commerce, McDonald’s, Meadow Gold, Rufe’s Paint Store, Southwest Ice and The Marketing Department.
Thank you to all who attended events, those who bought Pancake Day tickets and silent auction contributors and participants. Without the generous community support, it would not have been a success.
Scott Shadid, Kiwanis Club of Durango president
