Members of Durango Friends of the Arts send a heartfelt thank you to Lisa and Lauren Skyhorse, Skyhorse Saddles owners and artists, for opening their beautiful home and workshop for the DFA November membership meeting. We were so fortunate to have the opportunity to get to know these incredibly talented artists; see their home, workshop and spectacular art; and learn about their experience making world-renowned, custom saddles.
For an added bonus, Lisa and Lauren gave lessons after the meeting about how to make leather bracelets to the first 10 participants who registered for the DFA fundraiser.
Thank you for spending the day with us, Lisa and Lauren.

To my surprise and great honor, I was chosen to be the La Plata County Humane Society Animal Advocate of the Year. It is such a humbling and wonderful feeling to receive recognition for the doing the work that I love.
I am forever grateful for the people who surround me and support me in my vision of what animal advocacy looks like in the real world. The hard work and dedication they exhibit every day is inspiring. It keeps me on track and motivated to keep Wolfwood moving forward.
I want to thank La Plata County Humane Society for the privilege to work with them all these years. The support and mutual collaboration has been invaluable in helping the animals of La Plata County.
I want to also especially thank Darla Lange, not only for nominating me and orchestrating my special night, but also for her tireless efforts to help me and the animals.
For the last 25 years, it has been my joy to rescue, care for, learn from and love, without end, the many wolves and other canines that have called Wolfwood home. Our mission statement is: “quality of life is an inherent right of all creatures.”
On behalf of myself and all the animals at Wolfwood, thank you for helping us have the chance to live a quality life.
