There is an answer to the manhole problem

Funny the Herald should have a story on manholes on the front page (March 6), as I have been meaning to address this issue for some time.

Having spent time putting in manholes and valves for water lines and fire plugs, I know it is possible to add rings to bring the top of the access closer to the road surface without causing the plows to hit them. I don’t recall seeing so many deep set access points anywhere else except in this city.

When an extra layer of asphalt is laid, there is something that can be done, and I am sure every driver would appreciate the extra effort and cost this would incur.
