The Demons’ softball team was swept Friday by perennial powerhouse Grand Junction Central.
Durango High School sophomore Joie Raybourn went 4-for-4 on the day with four singles, but the Demons lost both games, 17-0 and 15-0.
“Grand Junction Central is a really tough team,” Durango head coach Chelsea Rodriguez said in a voicemail to The Durango Herald. “They’ll probably be the toughest team we face all year, and they’ll be a contender for a state championship again, so it was a good learning experience for us.”
Raybourn’s performance was a definite bright spot against tough pitching. katrina Chandler and Shilo Gillen also had hits for Durango.
The Demons will try to get back on track Saturday at Fruita Monument.
