My husband and I, both cyclists, decided to walk the Animas River Trail last weekend. We were totally dismayed by the lack of bike etiquette on the trail. Almost everybody was on an e-bike and none but one rang a bell or said “on your left” when passing – often at considerable speed.
As we were leaving the trail around 32nd Street, a group of 15 road cyclists decided to shortcut over the grass down to the river, and we had to jump out of the way.
Signs should be posted reminding bicyclists to ring a bell or give an audible warning when passing.
