I was shocked, saddened and frankly horrified that the Herald endorsed local politicians bearing an “R” next to their name. Although we all may yearn for the days when issues alone should guide votes, those days disappeared when a mob of Republican terrorists stormed our Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Craig, Hurd, Simpson and Black all appear as charming, talented speakers with only our best interests at heart. They woo us to maintain focus on bread-and-butter issues, hoping we will ignore their loyalty: solidly with the GOP, a party that has transgressed in unforgivable ways. Not only has the GOP brought forth – with resounding approval among its ranks – America’s first felon insurrectionist leader. It also acclaims Project 2025, the detailed dictatorship plot to overthrow from within the government our forefathers gave us – one of checks and balances, specifically designed to prevent autocrats from arising.
An increasing number of Republican leaders are publicly distinguishing themselves from the treasonous cult that surrounds our former president and Project 2025, and I applaud their patriotism. Our local candidates are not among them. Their silence about Trump’s dictatorship plans signals their continuing allegiance, a silence of grand old gaslighting of our voters, designed to make traitors’ platforms seem normal.
The Herald, by failing to reference the looming Project 2025 threat of autocracy that should frame all political conversations, perpetuates this gaslighting, our Fourth Estate mother blind to incest. If you are unfamiliar with Project 2025, learn now. Vote accordingly.
