Two men involved in an escape from a juvenile detention center last month in Durango were charged Thursday in District Court.
Antonio Kolessar, 21, was charged with five counts of aiding escape, a Class 3 felony, and one charge of vehicular eluding. He faces four to 12 years in prison and a fine up to $750,000, followed by a mandatory parole period of five years.
Quinton Green, 20, was charged with one count of escape. Green, who was set to be released from DeNier in August, also faces four to 12 years in prison and up to a $750,000 fine.
According to an arrest affidavit, Kolessar cut a hole in a chain-link fence at the Robert E. DeNier Youth Services Center on April 27. Green and four other boys escaped through the hole and into a gray Hyundai Sonata driven by Kolessar.
The vehicle was later spotted in Pagosa Springs. After a police chase, the group was arrested outside of South Fork, 44 miles from Pagosa Springs, and returned to La Plata County.
Kolessar is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 31, and Green is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 7.
