Use public process, don’t just gripe later

It’s become very cool to pile on and trash-talk CDOT after-the-fact in letters to the Herald.

What I’d like to know is why it’s so much easier to write a rambling, misinformed letter than to go to a public meeting or a website or have a five-minute conversation with an engineer or policymaker? Bridges and intersections don’t just pop out the ground.

Whatever you like or dislike about CDOT, it does have an inclusive public process, and it’s there for a reason. Jim DiSanto’s letter (Herald, Aug. 20), ironically, nailed it: “Why doesn’t someone call CDOT and ask if there is a Plan B?”

Well, no one’s going to do it for you.
