The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4031, and American Legion, Post 28, would like to compliment the Durango High School football team for its display of old fashioned patriotism during the opening ceremonies at the home football games.
This “random act of patriotism” is a welcome sight, especially compared to other spectacles that football teams around the country have demonstrated.
Our Color Guard at these games is made up of 80 percent Vietnam veterans and 100 percent honorably discharged veterans.
The support and encouragement by the football team members during these turbulent times is a welcomed statement of courage and resolve to our veterans.
