Violence in the name of art is still violence

“Butterfly Caught,” a film featuring horrific, graphic gun violence, was voted “Best in Category” by both the audience and jurors of the Durango Independent Film Festival.

Might the festival board and planners have the fortitude to ban films with gun violence in the future? Unlikely.

How many Americans leap from their theater seats and sofas, having satiated their appetites for gun violence in the name of art, to take to the streets with cries of “Do something?”
