Volunteers made book sale a success

An old-fashioned Durango “shout-out” goes to the many volunteer “Friends of the Library” who spearheaded November’s FOL book sale at the Durango Public Library.

From Thursday’s setup to Friday and Saturday’s sale days, and Monday’s break down and clean up, by all estimates over 300 volunteer hours were contributed by scores of FOL members. This year’s “bag sale” will go down in the annals of this remarkable event as one of the best attended, with overall sales into the upper $4,000 range.

The theme of “it takes a village” certainly is apropos to running a book sale. It takes countless hours of planning, prepping and a boat load of sweat equity for an event of this complexity and magnitude to be successful.

Possibly though, the biggest thing to applaud is there were far too many who contributed their time, energy and talent to individually recognize. So, we’ll simply say a heartfelt thanks to all the FOL members involved with the event. We know it’s truly a labor of love, and your community is better for it.

On behalf of the staff of the library, we thank you and sincerely appreciate all you do.
