The reality is we get what we pay for, and Colorado’s ranking in support for education is low. We have talented and creative students, and they deserve more. I support Amendment 66. The youth are our future, and I vote to put our money to support them. I support Kim Martin for school board. As a psychologist counseling students at Fort Lewis College, I came to know Kim Martin particularly in two ways. We were both strong veterans’ advocates and we were both supporters of freshmen growing and developing. Kim taught freshman composition, and students passed the word from class to class to sign up for her class as she cared and she could teach. Kim was a passionate advocate for students, wanting them to achieve to the best of their ability. She is accepting and understanding.
I was particularly impressed that Kim was able to find that critically important balance between student individual need and academic achievement. Kim was excellent at being able to view a situation from many perspectives. Students felt like she both understood them and demanded excellence. Administrators also supported her as she honored both academic and financial concerns.
Kim is an experienced teacher, and she knows the key role that teachers play in development. She is experienced at multitasking and at viewing issues from a very wide perspective. She is bright, open-hearted, open-minded, hard-working and dedicated. She is capable of thinking outside the box and respecting the limitations of the box and finances. Kim is even-tempered, culturally sensitive, respectful of different perspectives and a team player.
Support our youth. Vote for Amendment 66, and vote for Kim Martin for school board.
