The college football season is already three weeks old. It’s crazy to think that some teams have already had bye weeks as fall colors and temperatures will be here soon enough.
Three Colorado Division I schools are in action this week. Colorado State has a bye and probably needs it. The Rams nearly lost to Division I FCS school Northern Colorado last weekend.
The remaining three Colorado Division I teams have some intriguing storylines in Week 3. Here’s a look at what matchups Colorado Division I college football teams have this weekend:
Where: TDECU Stadium in Houston
How to Watch: ESPN
Records: Colorado is 1-1 overall after its 31-7 win over Delaware on Saturday. Houston is 2-0 after its 35-9 win at Rice on Saturday.
Line: Houston is a 3.5 or 4-point favorite over Colorado depending on the sportsbook.
Notes: The Buffaloes easily defeated Delaware on Saturday, but there was still some controversy from the win. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders played three quarterbacks in the victory. Week 1 starter Kaidon Salter went 13/16 passing for 102 yards. Five-star freshman Julian Lewis went 2/4 for 8 yards. Third-string quarterback Ryan Staub finished the game 7/10 for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Sanders has not publicly named a starter for the Houston game. There are reports that Staub will start after taking the majority of snaps in practice this week.
Houston only led Rice 7-3 at halftime on Saturday. However, the Cougars outscored the Owls 28-6 in the second half. Houston quarterback Conner Weigman went 15/22 passing for 188 yards and a passing touchdown. Weigman also rushed for a score. Houston running back Dean Conners rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

Records: Air Force is 1-0 after it beat Bucknell 49-13 on Aug. 30. Utah State is 1-1 overall after it lost at Texas A&M 44-22 on Saturday.
Line: Air Force is a 4.5-point favorite against Utah State.
Notes: Air Force dominated in its last game and was up 28-7 at the half against Bucknell.
Falcons quarterback Josh Johnson finished the Bucknell game 4/7 passing for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Air Force had 267 rushing yards and four rushing scores. Cade Harris led Air Force with eight carries for 66 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Harris also led the team with three receptions for 83 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Utah State fell behind 30-6 at the half against Texas A&M, but was even in scoring with Texas A&M in the second half. Utah State allowed Texas A&M to have 554 yards of offense.
Quarterback Bryson Barnes led Utah State with 15/30 passing for 169 yards and two touchdowns.

Records: Northern Colorado is 1-1 overall after its 21-17 loss to Colorado State on Saturday. South Dakota 0-2 overall after its 20-13 loss to Lamar on Saturday.

Notes: Northern Colorado nearly pulled off a huge upset against Colorado State last weekend. The Bears led 10-0 at half and led 17-14 after three quarters.
Bears quarterback Eric Gibson Jr. went 17/28 passing for 160 yards and an interception in the loss.
South Dakota had a 10-0 lead over Lamar before it was outscored by Lamar 20-3. South Dakota lost despite only allowing 204 yards of offense.
