What you see is what you get with new police chief Afzal

I see where your city manager Ron LaBlanc has stated there is nothing hidden about Durango’s new police Chief Kamran Afzal. “What you see is what you get,” he said.

Ever go to the refrigerator and get that container of cream cheese for a bagel you just toasted only to be disappointed that it is not what you had hoped once it is opened? Well that’s Afzal. A good talker with a impressive paper background but, operations-wise, a man who has knee-jerk reactions regarding important decisions and poor operational decision-making skills.

Did anyone really investigate him correctly talking to the people who worked for him? He was told by the current Chief Farr that he might as well leave because he will never be picked as deputy chief while Chief Farr is at Arlington County (Virginia) Police Department.

He would constantly yell at his staff and employees and got in trouble for it numerous times. He was never given command of the operations division’s patrol due to his lack of ability to lead more then several officers at a time. Nowhere in his experience did he ever command a large number of officers due to his lack of leadership ability. Just because he made rank of captain doesn’t mean he had the ability to perform at that rank.

How do I know all this and more? I worked with and for him for years.

Good luck. You Democrats deserve him!
