Trevor Gabbard was running with the big boys Saturday afternoon in Alamosa.
Gabbard, from Class 3A Bayfield High School, finished fifth overall in the multi-classification Joe Vigil/PUMA Invitational on Saturday at Adams State College in Alamosa. He ran the 5-kilometer, 3.1-mile race in 16 minutes, 47 seconds, 26 seconds behind winner Jake Rogers of Lamar.
Durango won the boys meet with 59 points.
Gabbard led BHS to an 11th-place finish with 339 points.
Also for the BHS varsity, Alex Knight finished 55th in 18:38; Sloan Mazur finished 77th in 19:30; Justice Herrera finished 100th in 20:56; Bryan Gram finished 102nd in 21:22; and Joey Sandrey finished 113th in 22:46.
The BHS girls varsity finished 14th, led by Rachel Cooper in 53rd place with a 22:44, Lexa Fleming in 56th with a 22:55, Bridget Goddard in 65th in 23:25, Koya Maniss in 88th in 25:44, Jessica George in 96th in 27:05 and Brittany Birk in 98th in 27:10.
