Young burglary suspect surrenders to police

This photo of a suspect in the burglary of a garage early Sunday morning was captured by a security camera. The suspect turned himself in Monday night after the image was released to media.

A juvenile whose image was captured in a security-camera photo during an early Sunday morning burglary on County Road 121 turned himself in to the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office on Monday night.

Since the suspect is a juvenile, his name won’t be released, sheriff’s spokesman Dan Bender said.

The juvenile had an accomplice because there were two sets of footprints leading to the window where entry was made, Bender said. There was no security-camera photo of the other person, he said.

The window was broken to gain entry, Bender said. The residents, who were asleep, didn’t discover the break-in until later.

Anyone with information about the burglary or other crimes in the area may call sheriff’s investigator Jim Hendricks at 382-7018.
