Young woman showed incredible generosity

I would like to share a story of a young woman in her 20s who gave with such generosity. Her name is Katie. We have a studio apartment building and had a few openings for rent. I was showing two of the units to a disabled veteran named Leighton. After hearing he had very few personal belongings and was on a limited income, I knew a smaller upstairs unit would be coming up soon, so I called the tenant and asked her permission to show her unit, knowing she would soon be leaving. She allowed me to show it, and Leighton loved the unit and the cost, which better fit his budget. After reaching Katie again, I explained Leighton loved her unit and would like to move in when she leaves. After a short conversation with Katie, she offered not only to move out early as she already had a new residence lined up, but offered some of the furniture for Leighton at no cost. She then, to my surprise, offered her rent check which she just mailed, to be credited to Leighton. She explained she had a stepfather in the Army, and she “had a heart for our vets.” It’s nice to know there is a younger generation of people out there to lend a helping hand, and I want to thank her for making a difference in someone’s life by paying it forward.
