We are living in a new era. Staying home is the safest thing we can do to protect ourselves and our loved ones from COVID-19.
But not everyone can stay at home. The caregivers at San Juan Regional Medical Center are on the front lines of this fight. We are working around the clock to care for everyone who needs us.
San Juan Regional Medical Center is not part of a larger health system. We are an independent, community-owned nonprofit hospital. We have the advantage of making decisions at the local level. For example, when challenged with how to keep potentially ill patients out of the emergency department to stop the spread of illness, we immediately set up a drive-thru screening area.
We produced a hotline with the latest information. We brought you videos from our providers and answered your questions live on Facebook.
We are fortunate to have support from our community. Our call for help obtaining personal protective equipment is one example. The MakerLab answered our call and has been working with our emergency medicine physicians.
Thank you to everyone who has created or donated extra supplies, sewn masks and brought food. We appreciate your generosity.
I am proud of the hard work that continues on a daily basis to protect our patients and our community. It’s a demonstration of our core values, which guide everything we do.
Throughout this new challenge, we will be here to provide quality care. We are here for you.
