Durango School District 9-R recently completed its third class of its Leadership 9-R program.
Over the school year, participants meet one time each month during the lunch hour (lunch is provided) to learn about the operations of our school district. Topics include school finance, curriculum, Colorado’s academic standards, measuring student achievement and teacher performance, student intervention programs, food services, contract negotiations and student transportation.
I was fortunate to have participated in this program. It gave me an appreciation for how complex it is to run a public school district, as well as how fortunate we all are to have such competent leadership, teachers and staff.
