There is a Durango Police substation and adjoining property on Wilson Gulch Boulevard in Three Springs. Why not expand this substation to become the main Durango police station and make the Second Avenue facility a substation?
This would be much more economical than building a new or remodeling the old main station downtown. It would free up a lot of parking spaces on Second Avenue.
The Three Springs entrances provide easy and quick access for the public.
This would also place the Three Springs main police station next to Mercy Regional Medical Center. Mercy has the only full-service emergency room in Durango and the lifesaving Flight for Life Colorado rescue.
